Anna Vogel

Sperling präsentiert auf der  Art Düsseldorf eine Kombination aus Papierarbeiten der Düsseldorfer Künstlerin Anna Vogel mit Bodenskulpturen aus Pflastersteinen des Wiener Künstlers Thomas Geiger. Diese Kombination ist nicht nur formal, sondern vor allem inhaltlich schlüssig. Beiden Künstlern geht es um das spür- und sichtbar Machen weit entfernter Orte. Im Fall von Anna Vogel ist diese Entfernung zeitlicher Natur während Thomas Geiger eine räumliche Distanz überwindet. Anna Vogel beschäftigt sich mit der Vorstellung von Natur zu einer Zeit, als es noch keine Menschen gab, die diese beschreiben bzw. dokumentieren konnten. Die partizipatorischen Skulpturen von Thomas Geiger haben ihren Ursprung in Johannesburg, wo Thomas Geigers Projekt Kunsthalle 3000 zuletzt Station machte.

At Art Düsseldorf, Sperling is presenting a combination of works on paper by Düsseldorf artist Anna Vogel and floor sculptures made of cobblestones by Viennese artist Thomas Geiger. This combination is not only formally coherent, but above all in terms of content. Both artists are concerned with making distant places tangible and visible. In the case of Anna Vogel, this distance is of a temporal nature, while Thomas Geiger overcomes a spatial distance. Anna Vogel deals with the idea of nature at a time when there were no people to describe or document it. Thomas Geiger's participatory sculptures have their origins in Johannesburg, where Thomas Geiger's Kunsthalle 3000 project last made a stop.
